Have you ever seen the movie "Pay it Forward"? It's about a boy who decides to pay a favor forward after an act of kindness is done for him. And this quickly spirals out of control as everyone he does a favor for does a favor for someone else and so on. Here's a list of 50 acts of kindness (and feel free to add your own, too!) Divide them up as a family, and see how many you can do! Give a prize to the family member who does the most! Check out the list here: http://vibrantfaithathome.org/item/acts-of-kindness-50-acts-of-kindness
These are just a few of many wonderful opportunities to serve others. Our worship prepares us to recieve Christ, and once we recieve Christ in the Bread and Wine at Communion, we are called to bring Christ back out into the world. That's why the last thing the priest says in church is often "Go in peace to love and serve the Lord." We are called to a life of service. It can be something as simple as buying extra food at the grocery store to hand out to people who are hungry as you see them. It can be buying coffee or a meal or groceries for the person behind you in line. It is doing these things because we recognize Christ in the other person we've encountered.
